ZWCAD License Activation and Upgrade Guide

License Types    

ZWCAD is available in two (2) license types:

1. Stand-Alone
2. Network

And, each license type is available with either Soft Key or Dongle encryption.

Stand-Alone Version
Each license is bound to a single user and computer. Stand-alone licenses are ideal for small offices and dedicated production users, because they do not require network connectivity to run.     

Network Version
Multiple copies of licenses can be accessed by users over a network. Network licenses are managed by a License Manager which should be installed on a server. Workstation users can then get floating licenses (or borrow licenses) from the authorized server.

The table below compares all license types. Also, the diagrams below the table pictorially depict each license type.

ZWCAD Upgrade Guide

Please follow the instructions below to upgrade your current ZWCAD version to ZWCAD2011.

ZWCAD 2011 supports two methods of encryption: Dongle Encryption and Soft Sncryption. When upgrading to ZWCAD 2011, you can keep the current form of encryption or switch from Dongle to Soft encryption.

  • Upgrading with Dongle Encryption
  • Upgrading with Soft Encryption
  • Upgrading from Dongle to Soft Encryption

> Upgrading with Dongle Encryption

Procedure:

1. Provide ZwcadUSA with the product ID of your dongle.

2. Obtain the 2011 license code from ZwcadUSA.

3.For stand-alone versions, please go directly to step 4.
  For network versions, you must also upgrade the Network License Server program:

  a) Uninstall the curent ZWCAD Network License Server.

  b) Install the new ZWCAD 2011 Network License Server (Dongle Encryption)

4. Keep using your original dongle by activating the new license code to activate ZWCAD 2011. (See activation guide)

Note: No need to return your old dongle. Use your existing dongle with ZWCAD 2011.

 

> Upgrading with Soft Encryption

Procedures:

1. Provide ZwcadUSA with the Activation ID of your current ZWCAD (referred to as oldID).

2. Obtain the new Activation ID for ZWCAD 2011. (referred to as newID)

3. Before using the newID to activate ZWCAD 2011, return oldID to our Licensing Center (See Note 2 below for "How to return Activation IDs?")

4. For stand-alone versions, please go directly to step 5.
   For network versions, you need to first upgrade the Network License Server program:

  a)   Ensure that you return the oldID before uninstalling!

  b)   Uninstall the current version of ZWCAD Network License Server.

  c)  Install the ZWCAD 2011 Network License Server (Soft Encryption).

5. Use ZWCAD 2011 Activation ID(newID) to activate ZWCAD 2011. (See activation guide)

Notes:

1. This newID for ZWCAD 2011 is generated based on the oldID. Only one activation ID is acceptable by the ZWCAD Licensing Center at a time, so please ensure that you return the oldID before activating the newID.

2. How to return  Activation ID:

   For stand-alone versions:

   a)  On the Windows taskbar, click Start.

   b)  Choose All Programs > ZWCAD 20** Professional > License Manager.

   c)  Select the Activation ID number.

   d)   Click the Online Return button.

   For network versions:

   a)  On the Windows taskbar, click Start.

   b)   Choose All Programs > ZWCAD Network License Manager > License Manager (Server).

   c)  Select the Activation ID number.

   d)   Click the Online Return button.

3. ZWCAD 2011 Activation ID can be used to activate both ZWCAD 2011 and ZWCAD 2010. On the same computer, after ZWCAD 2011 is activated, ZWCAD 2010 will also be activated automatically.

> Upgrading from Dongle to Soft Encryption

If you want to switch from Dongle Encryption to Soft Encryption, we will provide you a 30-day Activation ID to experience soft encryption before making a final decision.Please follow these procedures:

1. Contact ZwcadUSA to apply for a short-term Activation ID.

2. Obtain the short-term, 30-day Activation ID from ZwcadUSA.

3. If the ZWCAD Soft Encryption runs satisfactorily on your system, fill out the application form, and then send it with the dongle to ZwcadUSA to obtain the official Activation ID for ZWCAD 2011. Remember to do this before the short-term Activation ID expires.

4. Receive an official Activation ID of ZWCAD 2011 from ZwcadUSA.

5. For stand-alone versions, go to Step 6 directly.
   For network versions, install ZWCAD 2011 Network License Server (Soft Encryption) on the server.

6. Activate ZWCAD 2011 with the new Activation ID. (See activation guide)

Notes:

1. The dongle must be returned to ZwcadUSA if you wish to switch to Soft Encryption.

2. Dongle Encryption and Soft Encryption have different network license managers; so you need to install the network license server for Soft Encryption.

3. ZWCAD 2011 Activation ID can be used to activate ZWCAD 2011 and ZWCAD 2010. On the same computer, after ZWCAD 2011 is activated, ZWCAD 2010 will be activated automatically.
