ZWCAD+ Feature Highlight: Associative Dimension
Associative Dimension is a favorite of ZWCAD+ users.
ZWCAD+ comes with the new associative dimension and enhanced field features that make the annotation more efficient. These enhancements bring you a better annotation experience, and enable you to design more easily and efficiently.
Associative dimensions can automatically adjust its locations, orientations, and measurement values when the geometric objects associated with it are modified. Dimensions in a layout may be associated to objects in model space.
It updates locations, orientations, and measurement values of dimensions automatically with the newly added associative dimension, when objects are modified.
The system variable for associative dimensioning is DIMASSOC: it controls the associativity of dimension objects.
Following is the information about the DIMASSOC variable:
Saved in: Drawing
Initial value: 2
Controls the associativity of dimension objects.
||Creates exploded dimensions. There is no association between the each object of the dimension. All objects and dimension text are drawn as separate objects.
||Creates non-associative dimension objects. A single object is made up of each element of the dimension. If one of the definition points of the dimension moves, the dimension is updated.
||(Retention Value) Creates associative dimension objects. The elements of the dimension are formed into a single object, and one or more definition points of the dimension are coupled with association points on geometric objects. If the association point on the geometric object moves, the dimension location, orientation, and value is updated.
We hope you find this Tip of the Week helpful. We will highlight another ZWCAD+ feature in our next article.
Speaking of ZWCAD+, there is still time to take advatage of two fabulous offers that we announced earlier this month: "50% Off Upgrade" and "15% Celebratory Discount".
