Survey Reveals Importance of 2D 3D CAD Drawings as a Marketing Tool
Just hot off the press! I just received a copy of 2010 Industrial Marketing Trends survey from GlobalSpec which reinforces what I pointed out in my previous post "5 Reasons to Modernize Your Mechanical CAD in Manufacturing"
"4. Because ZWCAD is eminently affordable, companies can finally afford to give 2D/3D seats to everyone that needs 2D/3D self-service. Beyond designers, this includes purchasing, proposal writers, field application engineers, sales people, support engineers – for design, detailing, QA, demonstration, configurations/pricing, tracking, online support, and more. The extended team is fully empowered to get the 2D/3D information they need, use it, and share it with others."
My three takeaways from the survey that are relevant:
- Manufactures are investing more marketing resources online
- 70% of respondents listed company website as their TOP source of leads
- [Only] 12% use CAD drawings as a marketing tool on their website
Most companies now know that more and more buyers find products and services they are looking to buy using web search. And when they do find a manufactures website, availability of 2D and 3D CAD models helps generate more qualified leads.
One key reason why only 12% use CAD models as a marketing tool on their website is affordability - the high cost of "conventional" CAD software. However, as I pointed out, becuase Autcad Alternatives like ZWCAD are eminently affordable, companies can finally afford to give 2D and 3D CAD software to their extended team beyond designers - and thus empower the extended team that includes marketing and sales.
I would also note that, increasingly, many online directories for manufacturers such as ThomasNet.com include online CAD Drawing.
